This is a series on evangelism training taught by
Pastor Jon.
The main thrust of the Avondale
evangelism strategy involves
introducing Christ in the
context
of hospitality and friendship
while unashamedly presenting the
demands of the Gospel.
Fellowship
Having
Fellowship with God
As a follow-up to his message on
Having Peace with
God
which
targets how the unbeliever deals with sin, Pastor Jon
explains
how the believer must also deal with sin in order to
truly enjoy fellowship with God.
Guilt
Dealing with Guilt
Pastor Jon explains the nature of guilt
as
moral pain, and draws
from various passages to describe the means for dealing with
guilt
and
the sin that brought it about.
Leadership
Leadership
Pastor Mike explains the Biblical perspective of what it
takes to
be a good leader. He explains that authority of
leadership
should come from the Word of God.
Love
First Love: Keeping It
or Rekindling It
Falling away from passionate devotion to Christ is
fearful for
any Christian. How do we hang
on to that passion? What
can be done if it grows cold?
Pastor Jon draws from Revelation
2:1-7 to
provide the answers.
Love
Jesus was asked which were the greatest commandments.
He
responded, to love the Lord your God and to love your
neighbor. Pastor Mike examines the concept of love
and how
we can apply it to our lives.
Motivation
Burnout
God wants us to be active in serving Him, but to avoid
burnout. In this message, Pastor Mike examines the
causes of
burnout and identifies the ways a Christian can serve
without
exhaustion.
Hope During the
Holidays
The holidays can be a difficult time for many people.
Pastor
Mike explores how we can have hope in Christ, even
during
trying circumstances.
What is Jesus Doing?
We can stay motivated in Christ because we know God will
rule
over the earth and his enemies. Because God's
promises are
always kept, we can continue our faith and service
despite
many obstacles and trials.
Pride
Clean
Jesus addresses the hypocrisy of the religious leaders
of his
time. The were concerned about maintaining the
image of
cleanliness, while their hearts were filled with pride.
How to Achieve
Greatness
Men desire to be great. As Christians, we must be
conscious of
our motivation for what we do. Are we working to
please God
or to please men?
Salvation
Having Peace with God
Many will come to Jesus thinking that they have peace
with
God and be shocked to find out that any perceived peace
was not genuine. Pastor Jon explains that
receiving the
righteousness of Christ is the only way to have genuine
peace.
Self-Evaluation
Are You Walking the
Walk?
What are the standards that differentiate a "worthy"
walk
from an "unworthy" one?
Pastor Jon points out God's criteria in
Ephesians 4:1-3.
Spiritual
Gifts
God's Investment in the
Believer
God has invested in each of us, giving us specific gifts
that we
should discover and use. God is more concerned
with what we
do with the gifts we're given, than how our results
compare
with the results of others.
Spiritual
Warfare

Three Keys to Victory
The perspective of life as warfare and our
role as soldiers is

battles
by focusing on these keys to victory from 2 Cor. 10:1-6.

explains that we should be driven to
be successful, but only
according to God's definition.
